Principles

By what rules
we work

These principles aren't decoration. We use them to decide when we're unsure whether to publish a story.

01

Facts over speed

Better to publish an hour later than spread something unverified. If information isn't confirmed, we say so.

02

Our own words

We don't copy other people's texts. We retell the point in our own words and add the explanation that's usually missing.

03

Respect for authorship

If a story relies on someone else's reporting, we cite the source. Others' photos are always credited; ours aren't.

04

No clickbait

The headline promises exactly what's in the text. We don't scare or stir emotions for clicks.

05

Ads are labeled

Sponsored content is always labeled and never disguised as news. Partners have no say over editorial content.

06

Legally required label

If a story mentions a musician listed by Russia's Ministry of Justice as a “foreign agent”, we add an asterisk and a note. It's not a judgment — the label is legally required.

07

We fix mistakes

If we get it wrong, we correct it and say so openly — we don't quietly delete the story.
